A riser is a fluid conduit from subsea equipment to surface floating production systems such as spars, TLPs, and semi-submersibles. It is a key component in a drilling and producing system. Steel Catenary Risers (SCRs) have been widely used in deepwater applications since this riser concept offers a number of benefits. This paper discusses SCR design and analysis for a deepwater application in the South China Sea.
